Modeso were appointed to design (concept & visual design) and implement a state-of-the art corporate website for Mediconsult AG. The new, redesigned website must be fast, possess a simple accessible information architecture and take account of the current corporate identity.


During two workshops with the client we defined all business requirements, the information architecture and the navigation concept. From there we could work through all the different page types and come up with a final functional specification.

One feature definitely worth mentioning, is the fast tag-based product search which is globally available throughout the website.

Visual Design

Based on the requirements we incorporated the Duo Mac & Alain to design the responsive website. The design was created in a couple of weeks with an agile approach to the complete satisfaction of the customer.

To achieve a flawless implementation of the customers inputs, we used Frontify during the whole process. From design review over feedback and adjustment to final approval.


Apart of the visual appearance, we had to replace the existing CMS due to lack of flexibility with regard to the new requirements. After evaluating various options, we chose Concrete5 based on following factors/benefits:

  • Intuitive author interface (WYSIWYG)
  • Highly customizable
  • Drag & Drop page components to build up each page structure
  • Multilingual with different Information Architecture
  • Centralized product catalogue without a PIM
  • Language-based inheritance of components

The WYSIWYG author interface makes it much easier to edit content, as it's mostly self explaining:

We focused on a transparent development process during the whole project. For this reason we provided a quality environment for the customer where he can check and approve the weekly updates. To avoid problems during the content creation, we kept the production/quality environment running until the final live-going.

The quality environment is still in use. Enhancements will be deployed on the quality environment and as soon as approved by the customer it will be deployed seamless to the production environment.

As the testing and data migration phase got completed we went online with Mediconsult’s new corporate website on August 2016.

We also conducted an author training course for the person responsible for the data migration and the continuous data updates.

Upcoming features include an extranet (restricted access for clients and distributors), social media connectors for news & events and a customized Google Analytics optimized for Adwords.
